Welcome to "the Ark" Conference and Outdoor Education Center, home of Ottawa's most picturesque venue for company conferences, team building retreats, weddings and receptions, high school and youth getaways, and wilderness racing.

Fondly referred to as "the Ark" this unique, off-the-grid (solar and wind powered) conference center is located on 164 acres of pristine Gatineau Hills forest. Indoors we have a 2,000 square foot meeting facility with tables and chairs. In the winter there is radiant heat through the concrete floor and an old fashioned woodstove in the center of the room for additional warmth. Outdoors we are surrounded by a mature hardwood forest of oaks and maples. Ten kilometers of trails wind their way up and down the hills. Wildlife and picturesque views abound.

You'll also find permanent obstacle courses, ropes challenges and other team building elements for those teams interested in participating in some of the more "outside the box" team building challenges.

This just may be the perfect venue for your rustic outdoor wedding venue and reception. What could be more romantic than being married in front of a grapevine covered, cedar arbour surrounded by beautiful gardens, wildflowers, rolling hills and hardwood forests? Then dance the night away indoors to your favourite tunes or outdoors around a bonfire underneath the stars. Your wedding is YOUR dream day. Just tell us what you want and we'll do what we can to make it happen.

Our Outdoor Education component offers a back-country tent campground complete with outhouses, firepits and kitchen areas as well as 10km of groom trails, a maple sugar shack, orienteering course, flora and fauna identification exercises, and "Survior"-themed challenges. Although the Ark doesn't possess any of our own waterfront, the open expanse of the Gatineau River above the Paugan Dam is only 3km away should you wish to make any day trips there.

Less than 40 minutes north of Ottawa, 15 minutes north of Wakefield, Quebec, this is definitely a retreat worthy of further investigation.
